Christmas Party

We are keeping it simple this year! We will be having a PJs, Cookies, Milk and Hot Cocoa party on Friday, December 20th. We will be watching Christmas movies and enjoying each others company. Merry Christmas to everyone! I pray God richly blesses each of you this season and for many seasons to come.

Fall Party this Friday, 11/1!

We are having a Fall Party with Ms. Clark's class this coming Friday, November 1st. We would like to do activities like: Apple Bobbing, Sack Races, etc. We are looking for apple donations. Native American Presentations

Our Native American Projects were a HUGE success! Thank you for all of your hard work! We are still conducting our presentations, as they take some extra time. Here are few snapshots from one presentation the other day. There are more to come.

Birth Announcement: Early Bird

We are so blessed to have experienced, right before our eyes, the life cycle of a chicken. We've been waiting almost 21 days for our little ones to hatch. Well, today, Early Bird (We named him/her this since he wasn't suppose to hatch until Friday), joined our class discussions. Chirp! Chirp! Chirp! (onomatopoeia) This sound was ringing in the fourth grade halls! We patiently, not really, await the arrival of the remaining 15 chicks. WOW, life cycles are amazing!

Our Butterflies!

We now have butterflies! Almost all of the pupae have now metamorphed into beautiful monarch butterflies! We will be releasing them into the wild today. What an amazing transformation and life cycle!

Animal Pics

We have been taken over by animals!! LOL! I am starting to feel like Noah's Ark. :) We have frogs, hermit crabs, monarch butterfly caterpillars (Almost in the chrysalis stage), ladybugs, tadpoles, Thomas' turtle Albert (I named him that. I wonder why?! :)) and a Horned Devil Caterpillar (Which will transform into a Regal Moth.) Not to mention, Griffin the Gerbil is beside himself with all of our new visitors taking over "his" territory. We will begin our observations tomorrow. Friday, Mrs. Mills, is bringing another animal visitor in for observation and study. Thanks, Mrs. Mills!

Animals and Such....

We are beginning our Animal Unit. I wanted to let you know, if students have a small animal at home that they would like to bring in for show and tell, it is fine with me. Animals must be transported via car! Our bus drivers would hate me otherwise!! LOL!

Write Score this Monday, 9/9!

Write Score is a district writing test, that we send off to be scored, by professional scorers. We use these as guidelines for our instruction, as teachers. Students will receive a narrative or expository essay on Monday and will have one hour to plan and write. This will not count as a classroom grade. We want to do our best though! Have a great weekend, everyone!

What a week!

Hello ALL! We have had an awesome week!! It has been full of procedures, rules, hugs, laughs and lots of work, but we made it! I am so appreciative of all the class donations! It means so much to me have a "family" like you! Please remember I am here whenever you need me! (352) 494-9022. It may be a touch and go situation after 9:30pm though!! LOL. - additional white copy paper

Jacksonville Zoo Notes

Please remember the following:
- Chaperones must have a Volunteer Packet filled out and notarized prior to our trip. Do this ASAP.
- If a student receives a referral between now and our trip, May 14th, they will not be allowed to attend. We will not be able to refund the money paid either. Stay on our best behavior!!
- Chaperone Meeting coming up! See reminder that went home this week.
- No food or drinks on the charter buses.
- Don't bring electronics on the bus. We don't want to lose any valuables.
- Students without parents going should bring extra cash for spending. However, they will be responsible for keeping up with their cash.

If you have not returned your completed volunteer packet, please do so ASAP. We are trying to get all of our ducks in a row for our upcoming field trip to the Jacksonville Zoo, May 14th. Thanks.

READING FCAT Completed! YAY!

Students completed their second session of the Reading FCAT today! I am so proud of all of them! They really looked like they were giving it their BEST! Love to all!

Time to think like a cat!!!

In order to prepare for the FCAT, we had to partake in something only cats partake in.......their cat liter! We devoured almost every ounce of this kitty liter pan! It was delicious!!! We are thinking like cats now! Watch out FCAT we are READY!!

Reading LIA 3 Rescheduled

Literacy Week (1/14-1/18)

We are getting geared up for Literacy Week next week! To us, "Literacy" week is every week. We love reading and we do so much of it! ;) See the list below for activities we will be participating in:

-Million Minute Marathon (We will read an extra 20 minutes on Monday.Great AR time!)
- Mr. Hastings(Our Superintendent), the Chief of Police, and members of the Rotary Club will be coming to read to us at various times on Tuesday! What a honor!
- Bookmark Contest- Students will design a bookmark and have the chance to win a trip to a Reader's Tea Party. (Boys, it's not girly!)
- Strategy Poster Desgin- We will be designing a poster to represent our class' favorite reading strategy.
- Running to Read- Special Area Activity
